Constipation Help?
« on: August 10, 2009, 11:17:44 AM »
Looking for help! I take a fiber supplement, I drink lots of water and still find myself very constipated? Is there something else I can try?

Senna works very well and is quite gentle on the stomach. Most health food stores carry it.

Look at your diet, not just for fiber. Are you getting enough magnesium? It is vital for muscle function and that includes the digestive tract and intestinal muscles. There was a recent study done of 3,000 women with chronic constipation such as you describe and most had low levels. Leafy greens, nuts and whole grains are all good sources.

i would shake up your diet a little bit, I find that when I keep eating the same things over and over I get very bound up.

You should also avoid low fiber foods. Exercise regularly and eat a high-fiber diet.
