Joint Supplements for Teens
« on: August 15, 2009, 05:49:28 PM »
My son is 14 and complains about pain in his knees. I took him to the doctor who said it is probably just "growing pains" and not to worry about it. However, he continues to complain. I am concerned because he has never been a child to say anything, even when sick, he's a toughie, so it must bother him a lot. Is it safe to give him a joint supplement? I have taken one for years and it works well, but is he too young?

I'm not sure about a joint supplement but several studies have shown that teenagers do not get enough vitamin D (here is one http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29642547/ ) You can even get an adult strength Vitamin D supplement in gummie bear form ( I take it) which means kids won't have a problem taking it.

Kids need a good multivitamin every day for overall health, including for joint health. The One a day Teen are good and are in most supermarkets
